V1. Lo Mein

To add to another international dish I have a little bit more of Chinese dishes for you! Lo Mein noodles go great for a Chinese dinner. Lo Mein noodles are super easy to make and quick. That way if you’re looking for a quick snack or dinner to make it is right here. To make these no pain lo Mein dish you need vegetable or wok oil, snow peas, red bell pepper, assorted mushrooms, scallions, fresh bean sprouts, fresh ginger root, garlic, lo Mein noodles or thin spaghetti, aged tamari soy sauce, and toasted sesame oil. It is preferred to use wok oil because it is infused with ginger and garlic and is widely available on the International Foods aisle in the supermarket. Anyway let’s get to learning how to make this!

Step 1: Heat a wok shaped skillet or large non-stick skillet over high heat.

Step 2: When the pan is very hot add 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil or wok oil then immediately add 1 cup of snow peas that are cut in halved on a diagonal.

*Just a little note: when you add the oil it will begin to smoke a bit but that is completely fine.

Step 3: Now add immediately as well 1 red bell pepper, seeded and cut into match stick size pieces, ½ pound of assorted mushrooms, chopped, 4 scallions thinly sliced on a diagonal, and 2 cups of fresh bean sprouts.

Step 4: After that stir fry for 1 minute to flavor the oil, then add the 2 inches of fresh ginger root, minced or grated with hand grater, and 4 cloves of garlic, minced. And stir fry for about 2 minutes.

Step 5: Now you want to add the 1 pound of cooked noodles and toss with to combine.

Step 6: Add ½ cup of aged tamari soy sauce and toss the ingredients to coat noodles evenly with sauce.

Step 7: Lastly transfer the lo Mein to a serving platter and garnish with a drizzle of 1 tbsp. of toasted sesame oil.

NOTE: Cooked shredded pork, chicken or small de-veined shrimp may be added to the dish in any combination to add a little more flavor and taste!
